I played this one before the other three like four years ago, but I've decided to revisit it now-- and I'm glad I did. Playing as Kaho and visiting the Kingdom of Karst was pretty cool in perspective of the other two, though this game easily stands on its own. This is pretty much a perfect progression of all the gameplay elements in the previous 3; it has the best combat, balance, art direction, OST, story, and bosses of all three games. I think they have taken a little too much Souls inspiration now, but I digress. I can easily see why most people have only played this one, even if I think 3 is worthwhile. A lot of moments like the fight with Fennel or Archpriestess Choir stick out in my memory. It was awfully dark, too, with most of the character's resolutions wrapping up in a pretty grim but impactful way. I adore pretty much everything about this game, even if it isn't particularly unique. It's a shame it isn't longer and packed with more ideas.
Also, my Steam wouldn't let me get the achievements so I'm pissed.
