Definitely my favorite Zelda game so far. Which may be in part due to being my first, but at the same time I still feel like it really holds up well.

Combat is solid, graphics and music are fantastic, story is nice, dungeons are fun and challenging, and the game is still just fun to play in general. It can get pretty hard towards the end, but it does make beating the game all the more satisfying. There's also a lot of things you can do throughout the game's world and opportunities to gain bonus items or upgrades, which gives the game some more incentive for replay value.

The game's also a lot easier to just "pick up and play" compared to most of the 3D Zelda games in my opinion - I guess being in 2D does give it the benefit of the combat feeling more simple and straightforward, but either way I do feel like I had an easier time playing through this game and not getting tired of it compared to Ocarina of Time somewhat. Not to mention it makes the game have a more consistent, faster pace.

The dungeons also felt fun and well designed but also could be fairly challenging especially towards the end (the last temple before Ganon is just brutal at times). They definitely all feel engaging, and each of them does a good job of feeling unique while building off the difficulty.

There are things I do think are improved in later Zelda games, but overall, A Link to the Past definitely appealed to me the most with it's more engaging dungeons and "pick up and play" gameplay.
