As my first Shantae game, it's not a half-bad Metroidvania!
I was pleasantly surprised!

The badge system, while requiring a grind to unlock for some (which, to be fair, conflicts with the completion incentives of Metroidvanias), are a subtle way to freshen up the gameplay.
