As someone who got very little enjoyment out of playing the first Half Life, Half Life 2 holds up shockingly well. The physics and facial animations are still quite impressive considering when the game released, the purposely frenetic and jumbled nature of the narrative and its chapters keep the game from having too many dull moments, and the level design is typically excellent at disguising it's linearity.
