Going into this I was pleasantly surprised, it's not what I personally wanted from 3D Sonic but it's fun to run around in the open-world and the combat's surprisingly not awful, I'd say it's (sort of) a much-needed breath of fresh air for the franchise even if it's just SonicTeam trend-chasing again.
I really wish the environmental design and music were less boring, I don't like how much of the open-world level design is (literally) on-rails and the cyber-space levels are just shitty versions of the boost levels in Generations but otherwise I had fun, nothing amazing but it's solid which ironically probably puts it it the top five for 3D Sonic games.

Haven't played Final Horizon yet, I hear it's abysmal dog shit but we'll see.
