Like Final Fight 2, it lacks the charm of the original but unlike 2, it actually adds quite a bit to the gameplay such as running and special moves which ends up making it a much more enjoyable game than its predecessor, it's still not as good as the first one and nowhere near as good as something like Streets of Rage 2 but it's still good for what it is and one of the best beat 'em ups on the SNES that isn't Turtles in Time.
