KotOR 1 is a beloved classic that has become iconic for Star Wars and RPGs in general. It's foundational to the modern genre, and built its reputation on a legendary twist. A twist so huge that the ending of the game doesn't really know how to cash the check it just wrote. KotOR 2 cashes that check. It sees a big swing and swings bigger. It's the game people SHOULD be holding in higher regard. It's Obsidian Entertainment's edgy Star Wars fanfiction, and it totally rules. Is it rougher around the edges than the first game? Yes. Is it literally unfinished? Also yes. Can you install a fan mod that restores some of the missing content, and wind up playing a level so mind-numbingly bad that you wish you hadn't? You bet. Does this game have top-notch writing, meditations on philosophy, thoughts about our relationship to the stories we love, and tons of personality? Absolutely. If you have ever wanted to travel around space getting negged by an enlightened centrist grandma, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
