Centering everything around a divorce was only worth it for 2 chapters out of 8'ish where they play on parental mindset and dark humor greatly. Wasn't a fan of the writing when it kept throwing important bigly speech moments in the latter half and most of it otherwise I can only describe as droning. Otherwise it has its moments and definitely deserves praise for being able to chuggle a handful of genres without breaking stride, which isn't easy at all. A great co-op game to play with a non-savvy partner or someone who needs some training wheels.

Theres nothing to write home beyond its genre flexibility though. Just an overtly friendly, safe game that despite the good moments, doesn't really deserve the vast amount of accolades it got to be very pedantic. That isn't to say games centering around divorces, family, the mundanes etc can't ever be good - one of my all time favorites is about a cat fucking around in a rust belt Pennsylvanian town. Just that if we're gonna give accolades to one it should bear the soul of its creators, not its marketing team. And yes, marketing is central to most game dev, true. But theres a balancing act to it and this leans pretty hard on one side
