This was my first Ys game I have played, and I was hyped to play arguably the best game in the series. I played about 8 hours, and I enjoyed what I played. I thought the story was interesting with likeable characters. The battle mechanics felt good to control which made fighting enemies' fun. The voice acting and character models were not bad either. The only complaint I have is the map screen. The map is confusing to navigate. The overview map shows you the general location of your next objective, but I just couldn't wrap my head around it. It took the fun out because I'm going screen to screen trying to find where to go but I end up either turned around or I don't have access to go that particular area. I understand your supposed to explore and discover the world around you, but I don't like running around for over an hour trying to find where to go. Maybe I'm just bad at it. I'm shelving the game for now, but I hope I can come back and play through this one again.
