Echoes of the Eye beautifully incorporates a fully new adventure directly into the main campaign of Outer Wilds and builds upon it with entirely new gameplay mechanics, an incredibly cool new world to explore, and an intriguing new subplot.

The Stranger is designed more as a self-contained puzzle box than Outer Wilds's other planets, even more akin to Riven, but it allows the designers to make the puzzles more obtuse and complex and require more out-of-the-box thinking than those in the base game. There are some seriously amazing "a-ha" moments in this that rival and in some cases even surpass those in the original. It's also really spooky at parts and gives off a much more sinister, tense vibe than the base game did.

There is just so much cool stuff in this that Outer Wilds does and it continued to impress me from start to finish. There's a few parts in Echoes that really stand out and make you wonder how the hell they even conceptualized and executed the ideas present in this thing. Fucking magical, start to finish, and the base game plus the DLC is seriously special, once-in-a-lifetime stuff.
