In my Bayonetta 2 review, I said I couldn't decide between Bayo 1 and 2 on which is the better game. Now having gone back and completing the game on Infinite Climax, Bayo 1 is just clearly superior. The other 2 may have more unlockables but there's really just going to be no better motivator to keep playing like a game just having immaculate difficulty progression as you progress to each raising difficulty.
Don't get me wrong, the faults I have with the game, the cheap QTE/random minigame deaths and torture attacks seemingly being designed to break you hands and controllers, are still pretty substantial. The game constantly challenging me to heighten my skill ceiling keeps bringing me back though. Literally nothing, beats the feeling of nailing consecutive dodges and parries in Bayonetta.
