A tale of abandonment and surrogate love amidst the apocalypse, told beautifully and empathetically.

Gameplay hasn't aged so well. Now feels clunky and unreactive compared to the small-scale Phantom Pain-esque stealth-action of Part II, but the terrible violence still packs a punch. The same three "puzzles" repeated are... Functional. Traversal and exploration leave much to be desired in hindsight.

An iconic game that has not aged as well as we all thought it might have. 8 years later and game design has clearly moved on. 8 short years.

At launch, 4.5/5, now, 3.5/5.
Still a must play, but temper the expectations and know that Part II will satisfy more mechanically.
