Played on the PS5

KH3 was a bit of a mixed bag. Overall, I enjoyed it. It took basically every part I liked about every game leading up to it and made it into a coherent and extremely fun system. Everything about controlling Sora, and a few others, felt so smooth (naruto running on walls was frustrating though).

The story was Kingdom Hearts. Darkness hearts darkness memories darkness oh look baymax is here darkness X-blade darkness X = key darkness roxas hearts darkness confusing thing darkness time travel? darkness

I ain't really here for the story at this point. The franchise makes no sense and I have a lot of patience for its nonsense. I have played all accessible KH games over the past 6 months (starting MoM soon) and I've just given up on the story. I am here for the ride to which is a wild one. I hate that, specifically, this game would be a wild mess for ANYONE who didn't play any of the "side" games. They are all important and it's really frustrating that Square doesn't make that obvious. It is not standalone in the slightest.

The combat system is definitely my favorite amongst the games overall. It had everything I loved in one place! Every keyblade having a form was SUUUUPER COOL. Many of the new and the old were designed extremely well and extremely fun.

Nomura has a strange sense of... idk... he makes so many things interactive when they don't have to be. I find it so strange and often times absurd. It was a similar issue I had with FF15 (another game I absolutely adored, more than this one) where not everything needs to be interactive for me to be engaged. I am already playing it. I don't mind sitting back for a bit and watching stuff. Some of it is really cute. Some of it is fun. Most of it, though, I found confusing, annoying, or weirdly timed. Bizarre.

Everything else about it is very Kingdom Hearts. If you have played 1 or 2, it's what you expect and a tad more.

What bums me out is that... well... idk... it just never ends. It isn't a bad thing... it is just... exhausting. Ending of KH2 would've been a good ending and maybe could've focused on another story but nahhh. I just hope, in this post Norting boys arc, we find a new and consistent footing to make it less alienating.

Anyways, I very much enjoyed it. Nomura is a strange man and he has a special way to make me love and hate his games.
