I HAVE NEVER PLAYED METROID BEFORE
I have played many games in the adventure exploration genre before like Hollow Knight but I never really overtly enjoyed them. I try them all because I want to find one I enjoy. Metroid Zero Mission is really close.
I know this is a remake of the original so I probably won’t have the same nostalgia others have when it comes to this game. This genre is not what I usually play but I always try it. I got lost a lot, confused, and sometimes the game felt disjointed or hard to be hard. I don’t mind hard games but it didn’t give me as much satisfaction as say beating a boss in a Souls game.
Regardless, the fact I finished it, even as short as it is, is a step forward for me. I will be starting Samus Returns sometime this week, so, uh, maybe they’ll just get better from there?
I hate that I don’t like this genre because all the things Zero Mission is good at is the stuff I don’t like playing. Granted, I am very close to saying “hm, maybe it isn’t just Dead Cells that I like in this genre…”
