Ok hear me out, looking at your profile we seem to like a lotta the same shit so I'm hoping we can maybe see eye to eye on this. It's easy to see why people would dislike the game, but I think it's an issue of misplaced expectations. As far as most people who like it are concerned, I think the main draw is how deeply the game pulls you into the head of the slugcat. Just about everything in the game is contextualized, including the ways the enemies behaved. They're not obstacles for you to get past, they're creatures trying as hard to survive as you are. You don't beat them by memorizing attacks, hell, you don't even beat them half the time. The best you can hope to do is live to see another cycle. The way everything is just so consistently believable makes for a game world that is so unbelievably engrossing that I have never seen anything that comes remotely close, and a player character whose struggle I felt more deeply and naturally than nearly any other.
