A gloriously stupid game that succeeds in everything except for being consistent with Raiden's character arc in 2 and 4.

I guess inconsistency isn't the right way to put it. It's more, gee Raiden you sure didn't learn or listen to any of the lessons you learned in 2 or 4 about being your own person and not being a tool of war... still going out there avoiding your loved ones to kill things... so actually it's very consistent, he just resets back to killing things whenever he decides he won't do that anymore.
He decided to accept his role as a killer if that's what it takes to save more people from turning out like him. He is avoiding his loved ones to protect them so
