This honestly just feels like more of the same compared to the last game, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing seeing as how I did enjoy my time with the first Resident Evil game. If anything you could look at it as a more “streamlined” RE1 in a sense, more ammo to go around, less focus on puzzle solving and way less backtracking and inventory management (though those are still an issue to a degree). I can’t say much on the music unfortunately as I emulated the game on dolphin and a lot of music just sort of bugged out and stuttered or didn’t play at all. Certain tracks did and were unaffected, and thankfully I got to listen to the save room theme which is amazing. Atmosphere I felt wasn’t as strong as the first game but that also could be because I played the remake of 1 and not the original, I still think it’s fine enough as is. The remake of this game will likely make me change my opinion on that

If I'm not mistaken, they did fix the dolphin soundtrack bugs with the RE games. The soundtrack plays a big part in the atmosphere in RE2. So, it sucks that you didn't get to hear a lot of it on your first playthrough. The RE2 remake won't help as its new soundtrack is mostly just uneventful background ambience.
I did manage to listen to the ost on Youtube eventually at least so there’s that
