Played both Book 1 and Book 2. No issues with the story, if anything I felt more engaged than I was when I played FE1 (for book 1). I love a lot of the characters and my max stat Palla is my crit queen. That said, I have some criticisms of this game regardless.

I felt Book 1 was a butchered version of the original FE1, largely reusing map designs except with FE3 mechanics. Combined with a number of characters from the original being left out of this Super Famicom remake, it made for a fairly unbalanced experience compared to the original FE1. By all accounts this game looks and plays much better than FE1, but lacks the balance due to using more modern game mechanics on older map design.

Book 2 was a struggle. I played this on Switch, using Nintendo Switch Online, meaning I had access to the rewind function. Many maps felt nigh impossible to beat without the use of save state-like functionality due to them being largely reliant on RNG. It's hard, but also fairly well-developed all around. I enjoyed this game but would not recommend playing organically without a save state function.
