Not much of a Donkey Kong fan but I had a blast with Tropical Freeze. Super tight platformer with tons of fun mechanics and some incredibly varied level design. Only real issue I had were some occasional spikes in difficulty and somewhat lackluster bosses. Still if you're looking for a rock solid platformer I highly reccomend DKCTF.
