I swear I'm not biased, even though the developers of this game are literally working in the city I live in!

Elex II is a decent step-up from the previous game. I had a blast doing quests, slowly working my way up from a wimp to an absolute beast and exploring the world.

Something these Piranha Bytes games always do right is character progression. Struggling against virtually every enemy at the beginning and then being able to fly across the map with your jetpack, shooting everything with your overpowered shotgun while summoning meteors in your fat armor feels super rewarding to me. Something that lots of open world RPGs really struggle with.

The faction system is neat (especially thanks to the betray system) but I hate how they don't matter in the main story. In the end you're fighting everything by yourself, which I imagine is a result of the game not being able to handle many NPCs on the map. It's just laughable to think about how you're spending most of the game building an army, only to do everything by yourself anyway.

The performance of this game is pretty bad, as usual, however the main problem is the main story. Once you reach a certain point every mission becomes a bland "Kill X of Y" type of ordeal and the finale just isn't worth it.

All the good content is in the side missions and factions. But since I had lots of fun for 30-ish hours I can't complain too much.
