I could tell basically from the very beginning that this game is just a giant love letter to Spongebob fans of old who enjoyed the classic Battle for Bikini Bottom or its Rehydrated remaster (or even the Movie game, if you can find it in yourself to enjoy that one somehow). The gameplay was so smooth and controlling Spongebob in whatever way you could was SO so satisfying, it truly felt like they took everything people loved about the gameplay mechanics in Battle and improved so much on it.

Story wise it was pretty good! With my personal taste I would have personally preferred it had been a little longer, but I'm not completely dissatisfied with how it turned out. It was very well paced and I enjoyed the linearity aspect. I know everybody would have preferred a slightly more open world feel to it, but we know what we can do with video games now, and stories aren't that hard to tell if you're good at it. I told family and friends that, in my opinion, this game felt like one stretched out episode of SpongeBob, and I mean that in all the best ways, because if you know me you know that I love and cherish the SpongeBob series so much (at least prior to the unfortunate passing of Stephen Hillenburg), so as far as the game's storytelling goes, like I said a bit too short, but ticked all the right boxes. (Also, the there were SO many callbacks to previous episodes, so if you like insider references this game is 110% for you lol)

IN CONCLUSION, if you have ever enjoyed SpongeBob SquarePants on television, or for that matter enjoyed the fun collectathon experience of Battle for Bikini Bottom, I cannot stress it enough; just pick up a copy and play it, I guarantee you will have fun some way or another!
