There's no doubt about the impact and staying power minecraft has had over the years. Basically nostalgia simulator the game with how iconic it and its soundtrack is. Despite all that minecraft as a base game is just fine. Survival as a gamemode starts to get boring rather quick for a lot of people. And in terms of end game goals there are nigh none. "Minecraft is an open game, your end goal can be whatever you want" is true, but that has its limits.
