When I think of an action game with perfect combat, Dead Cells comes to mind. There's so much here for me to love, so many different styles of combat you can choose. I personally choose survival almost every time, and I always take a shield with me, but there's so many other options that work as well, and nearly every single weapon feels unique in some way.

The enemies are designed well in my opinion. In a game where playing perfectly is the actual goal, having enemies with readable and 'parry-able' attacks to fit perfectly with the fast paced gameplay.

I also love the art direction for this game. The worlds look beautiful, the models for enemies are something I haven't really seen before, and in a world where all indie copy the same style, it's nice to see a 2D indie not imitating the retro Nintendo style. The music for this game is also wonderful, and each soundtrack really fits the feel of each stage.

Dead Cells is hard, but it's rewarding. Watching the game unlock more options, weapons, cosmetics, and areas for me to explore feels great. A perfect gameplay loop for a roguelite

Kill. Die. Learn. Repeat.
