One step forward and one step back was Hellblade II experience for me. The game is visually stunning with exceptional sound design and music. However, the story, combat and puzzles is where I find the game divisive.

The combat, while more brutal and responsive than its predecessor, has been overly simplified. The puzzles are practically non-existent, the few that remain are enjoyable, but they are too few and far between.

The biggest disappointment for me was the story. Ninja Theory's decision to focus on a revenge narrative could have been compelling if the first game hadn't already set such a high bar with its profound exploration of loss and grief. In comparison, the story in Hellblade II feels like a missed opportunity, failing to live up to the emotional depth of its predecessor.
