This game was a really nice surprise for me. I picked it up along with some other RE games because I had a general interest in the series and they were on sale for cheap, but I didn't go in with any specific expectations. This game, however, is really great. There are a lot of outdated things about it, yes, but some of these things even work in its favor. The camera angles for example, while they may be annoying, really add to the atmosphere and make the game a lot scarier. The maps are very well designed too. One of the best parts is obtaining complete mastery over the maps through your explanation. Soon enough you'll find that you can easily navigate and know exactly where to go. I also like the satisfaction of something you found way earlier coming back later and you're like "oh, that's what that was for." The inventory system as a whole is somewhat of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand I like having to think carefully about what to bring and how to manage it efficiently, but it can also be really annoying if you needed something and have to travel all the way back to a safe room to get it. Also, since I am particular about collecting everything, I had to make many many trips back and forth to make sure I picked up every item I came across. You don't need to pick up everything that I picked up though, especially if you are already really good on health items for example, so that problem was somewhat made by myself as well. Another thing that I think is bad about the game is the characters and dialogue, but it's bad in a cheesy kind of way that's kind of comforting. And it's funny, but it is still bad. This issue is made up for with the interesting world building and lore in the game though. You'll find a lot of interesting letters throughout the game for example that will help you piece together what exactly happened at this mansion and it's cool to do that. The only other thing that was somewhat disappointing to me was the bosses because I felt like they all kind of felt the same and didn't require a lot of thought, but I also understand that they are basically there as a test of your resource management. If you managed your resources well like me then the bosses are a cakewalk and take no effort, but if you used your resources carelessly they will probably take a lot more effort to deal with.

Anyways, I wrote a lot, but basically I think this is a great game with a few tiny issues that don't really add up to much all things considered. I give it a 9/10.
