“Downwell” has a lot of heart and some razor sharp design and gameplay. So why did it not stick? I’m not entirely sure. This was the sort of game I played feverishly for one night thinking I found my new addiction, but with each day that past I played it less and less until I just didn’t care to go back. It’s clearly a good game. I just wish it made a deeper impression. I might still come back to it someday.
