The thrills in Burnout Paradise are just as abundant today as they were in 2018. The city is constructed and layered with just the right amount opportunities to chain scores that I would feverishly keep the insanity going. It's a blazing good time. A near perfection of the Burnout formula Criterion had crafted up until this point. Unfortunately after several hours with the game, my fun was being derailed constantly by the lack in variety. To progress in each licence, you practically play through all the same stages, just with added difficulty. A factor that helps keep the challenge going, but I had seen the sights too often. It also doesn't help that some of the races will take you way out in the map and without the benefit of fast travel there was more backtracking than I was wanting. In short, the game still works on many levels, but it's starting to show it's age.
