Like most Ubisoft games, it really overstays its welcome.
Now I understand, though, why Black Flag is one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. While I still prefer the new direction the series has been taking since Origins, there is something about action/adventure AAA games from the early 2010's that it's very emblematic of that specific moment. A "crispness" that comes from being in an age in-between the more realistic environments we see today and something that is undoubtedly, unapologetically a videogame. It's exquisite, honestly, and I didn't realize how much I missed this sort of approach until I played this game.
Man, I'm getting old.
