Super Mario 64 has 120 stars. Super Mario Sunshine has 120 shines. Super Mario Galaxy has 121 stars. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has 242 stars. In contrast, Super Mario Odyssey has a whopping 880 moons. While the worlds are quite small, for the moons, they somehow manage to completely disregard quality and go solely for quantity... an obscene, mind-numbing quantity. After quickly encountering a barrage of terribly designed moons (which you will experience throughout the whole game) the adventure is gone. On top of that, you'll do the same 4 boss fights several times throughout the game. Why!? The game is best played by just going for the minimum number of moons possible in each world.

The worlds are very noticeably mostly 3D tilemaps. They completely lack the creativity of the previously mentioned games. I was shocked at some of the game design decisions; I mean, I could've done a better job. Maybe Nintendo was too busy suing everyone for them to notice that their real moneymaker was uninspired.
