You can already see the personality they wanted to go for in this franchise in this original entry, but gameplay-wise it's pretty rough due to the lack of proper audio/video calibration, which is a must for emulating on a non-CRT.

Hitting frets early on songs I'm not as familiar with was fine, but songs that I knew how they go from listening to them tens to a hundred times caused me to mess up on them frequently. Also, some of the covers of these songs were pretty bad, while some were passable.
