It's pretty hard to give this game a true rating since Minecraft back then is not Minecraft now. This game has no nether update, no cave update and it's plagued with that annoying crafting feature the legacy editions have

BUT i do kinda love it

I loved experiencing the old nether, the basic caves and exploring the limited map size. It's probably nostalgia but this is Minecraft to me. The new Minecraft just doesn't feel like MINECRAFT

I like both though and I'm glad this time capsule is still around to be experienced like nothing ever changed

i think minecraft before modern updates makes for a more enjoyable experience anyway, sometimes less is more - less options = more ways of innovating, and less intrinsic motivators like the deep dark, end cities, etc. make for a more unique experience. you're definitely spot on with "the new minecraft just doesn't feel like MINECRAFT", the developers' vision for the game changed a long time ago.

i wrote this in my review of minecraft but i think both eras are really different games and there's still a lot of merit in older versions of minecraft, plus console edition minecraft is generally a really well-built port of an already great game; it's a shame what it turned into with bedrock edition.

good review satiire! 🤓
