What the DLC lacks in aesthetic uniqueness over the Mojave and quest design is compensated for by beautiful worldbuilding. Joshua Graham is a decent character, but much of what makes him and the story’s core conflict work is based upon the lore of the tribes and the Survivalist. The beauty of Zion and the moral and religious imagery used help to make the decisions around the ending more complex, even if the quests to get there seem dull.
A highly unique approach to an FPS that struck a balance between grand scale and making the individual player feel powerful. RPG-esque skill trees, modest player customization, and a sort of faction allegiance system gave this game a sense of community and charm that often made its muddy graphics and audio easy to overlook. You felt like part of a squad, a platoon, a company, and a faction, and nowhere was that more clear than when you advanced together towards the final objective.
