I've never played an Armored Core game before, but this was a perfect introduction to the world and mechanics of the long running franchise.

As a big fan of FromSoft, I assumed it would have its fair share of rough fights and I was correct. Like always, nothing is insurmountable, and generous checkpoints and restarts give you a feeling of "just ONE more attempt" every time your mech gets destroyed. The balance is just right and I love it.

The world building, despite not actually seeing a single human being, is stellar. Building your mech out to the specifications you want is a thrill every time I visited the garage. Realizing the current loadout isn't going to get the job done is half the game, and knowing when to switch out gear is extremely rewarding.

Having to replay the entire game multiple times to get different endings and outcomes is a BIT cumbersome, but the second and third playthroughs often still work because you've become so good at absolutely laying waste to your enemies that you feel like an unstoppable force.
