If you just want to chill out and shoot some things, this is the best Fallout game. If you want to play a character that isn't pre-written, it's the worst Fallout game.

Now, I'm someone who very much values player freedom and choice in these types of RPGs, especially in Fallout, so I feel like I should rate it lower. But I can't, because honestly it's just so fun to play. Plus the factions, characters, and writing are still pretty damn good overall (with the slight exception of the Institute being kinda dumb)

I am somewhat fortunate in that the way I wanted to play my first and main character is pretty close to the pre-written character you're forced to play. Still, the forced 4 dialogue options where you don't get to see the full line is painful.

Also, the Nuka World DLC was one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. I'm a huge theme park fan, and always want to get out the cars and walk around the rides, and go into all the secret employee areas. That DLC is probably the closest I'll ever get to doing that.
