The Lost Frontier falls short even by the low standards of handheld PSP games, failing to deliver any enjoyment for me. The smooth character controls that made the Jak trilogy so satisfying to play got lost in translation, and even on its own, it doesn't feel good to do platforming and makes the simple ground combat lackluster. It doesn't help that hitting enemies lacks impact and they are too spongy, making battles drag on forever. To make matters worse, the weapons at your disposal are neither enjoyable nor practical.

At first, I enjoyed the aerial combat with the ship until it nose-dived due to the monotonous missions, which made me loathe it due to the never-ending consequences of combat that are so repetitive and boring. The horrendous checkpoints don't help, adding to the length and making me beg for this game to end. It's just the cherry on top of this shit cake that has unenjoyable core gameplay, abysmal mission design, and a poor story that I don't even want to think about.

This game is as torturous as slowly burning each of your fingers or playing Sonic Lost World 3ds. The fact that the series ended like this is a bigger tragedy than Naughty Dog simply moving on from it to Uncharted after completing Jak X instead of allowing High Impact Games to create another awful handheld game.
