In my opinion, this is the best Ace Attorney game there is. The themes are cutting and prescient, the characters are fantastic, the music is superb, and the writing is sharp, witty, biting, and hits the whole range of emotions from things that make me laugh to what shocks me and makes my heart ache without fail.

The big issue, however, comes from the fact that the majority of the payoff comes from the last three cases of The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve. For me, this wasn't as much of an issue, as I certainly did enjoy the first of the two, but it definitely does take a long time to truly get going, and is certainly is not like a traditional Ace Attorney game in that regard. At times the first game can drag, and while, I would say, every case is ultimately important to the greater narrative, there are moments that stick a bit too long.

Additions to the gameplay are genuinely really great and add a lot to the courtroom, between things like Summation Examination, examining evidence in fine detail, and of course, deductions with Herlock Sholmes, I truly enjoyed how the game managed to shake things up but still keep the core strong as ever.

I definitely recommend it, and if you like courtroom dramas are wild, sprawling mysteries with lots of twists and reveals (that just about always stick the landing and pay off very well), I can't recommend it enough, just know that there is definitely a big time commitment into it, but once you get to Great Ace Attorney 2? Oh, you're in for one hell of a ride.
