I'm so happy to see one of my favorite games of all time (Klonoa 2) FINALLY come to the HD age, and with the first game in the series too, no less!

Unfortunately, the Switch version does have some downsides, with some strange slowdown, primarily when bosses are killed, from what I noticed, but there is definitely some technical issues with the game. It's strange considering this is a pretty simple HD remaster for something that STARTED development on the Switch, but, it's mostly fine.

The other major downside is the pixel filter is a horrible mess? In some of the early cutscenes in Klonoa 1 it actually looked pretty good, and while obviously not able to truly emulate the really unique look of Klonoa 1, was still great, but playing with it almost made me sick, as it's just a jarring mash of pixels blurring together. I don't know if this is just a me thing, but I can't help but wonder why they allowed this to pass through.

On the plus side, the Klonoa you know and love is there and it's GREAT. The games hold up very well from their platforming, lovely world and character designs, and the fantastic soundtracks. Klonoa 2 in particular is one of my favorite games of all time, with a really vibrant, interesting world, surprisingly heartstrings tugging story, great, memorable levels, and one of my favorite soundtracks. Some of the floating physics with Klonoa's double jump and grabbing enemies midair with the wind bullet does feel a bit weird at times, though that might just be me not used to the way this game controls and feels after so long.

For two relatively shorter games, it can be a bit hard to recommend at the full 40 dollar price, but I genuinely think its worth it. They're fantastic 2.5D platforming gems filled with a lot of heart and a lot of love and you can't go wrong with them in the slightest.
