While not a traditional Kingdom Hearts action game, Melody Of Memory is still a pretty entertaining rhythm game!

If you've ever played any title in Square Enix's line of Theatrhythm games, Melody Of Memory takes the similar 3-line rhythm formula and literally changes its axis from 2D to 3D. This conversion is beautiful to look at for sure, with various backgrounds and enemies appearing on the musical bar in each world. However, I can see flaws with this new perspective, more specifically when it comes to timing your hits. The rings coming down on your targets works fine, but it's still not as efficient as moving sideways, especially in field levels where bright video backgrounds can prevent notes from even being seen.

Another small gripe I had with this game was it being a bit too easy, even when playing some tracks on Proud mode. I rarely used any of the items provided besides the EXP and drop boosts. That could just be how used I am to playing rhythm games (not to brag), but that shouldn't scare some people off. There's still lots of great challenges and unlockables to discover for the more skilled of players. Thankfully you don't need skills to experience the added story content, which adds a surprisingly beefy amount of content to the past and future Kingdom Hearts sagas.

This isn't for every Kingdom Hearts fan, but for those who are looking for a replayable rhythm games with tons of superb tracks from Yoko Shimomura herself. It's a lovely time, and something I'll probably be revisiting from time to time... or at least until we get the next mainline game.
