Defined entirely by the word "Unfocused": The combat system is badly thought slop that doesn't know whether it wants to be a proper action game or a musou game, making any ounce of complexity the game pretends to add through the stance system worthless, as almost all of them end up being redundant and there is really no point to switching stances despite the game seeminglt being built around that. Add to that enemies that are all functionally the same with the big system (shell gauges) being nothing but the mother of all bullet (sword?) sponges and you get repetitiveness galore.
Characters are the saving grace of this game, with the main duo's interactions and relationship being a lot of fun. But while the whole cast is mostly charming, the sheer size of it and the game's attempts at giving them enough screentime means most end up feeling redundant to the point you could swap some Servants out for other different historical/mythological figures and the story would still be the exact same. A bunch of them are there just as FGO fanservice too, which ends up being a disservice to the setting and to those characters as well. BOSS is funny tho.
Finally, the story just feels like it's going through the motions of every single Grail War story we've already had, bringing nothing new or interesting to the table. Protagonist Iori whole thing ends up being fairly interesting, but even that is bogged down by the game's terrible sense of pacing and what is probably the greatest sin it commits: Having a route system that requires an NG+ playthough to get the full picture. And I'm most certainly not doing that, thank you YouTube uploaders.
