HOLY SPIT 🗣️🗣️🗣️ you actually said everything I was feeling. I think not enough people are really understanding or appreciating the brilliance of the final area. It ties not only the entire expansion but ShB and EW as well into a nice little bowtie. All these expansions play a part into what FFXIV is really trying to say about life, death, and the human condition overall. Also yeah, the Scions are extremely unimportant now. You can cut G'raha, Alisaie, Alphinaud, and Y'shtola from the plot and nothing would change. I kinda prefer them just being swapped out with new companions rather than the writers desperately reaching for reasons for them to be there.

Also another thing, the graphics update looks way better in a lot of ways but jfc it brought along the most annoying freezing issue. I've heard this problem exists for Xbox players so they better fix this shit ASAP or they're frauds.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail
I was a Dawntrail nonbeliever, especially after the underwhelming Endwalker post-patches, but this shit blew me away much in the same way base Endwalker did.
Storywise I'd say it's thematically Endwalker 2 or atleast a direct answer or reflection to it. It's insanely slow-paced and boring up until around lvl 95, then it REALLY ramps up and I'd say that the time it spent on worldbuilding Tural and it's cast of characters paid off in the end. Musicwise this has some of the best music in the entire franchise. Though a lot of my favorite tracks from DT just aren't bumpable. They're beautifully composed and all but I'm not about to blast them on the aux.
Ain't gonna say much more than that on the story though the actual content within the game such as dungeons, trials, and job changes (atleast for the jobs I played) are a HUGE step up.
Pictomancer is also insanely broken and yet somehow more braindead to play than all of the other casters.
