A very solid and influential platformer, despite the strange battle its always having out with the Mario games for some reason. Sonic is always at its best when it is its most simple - get from A to B, as fast as you can if you want, and don't get involved with lame-ass side characters. Music is fantastic and Green Hill Zone is one of the most beautiful and iconic designs in video games.
