The daytime stages in this game are extremely good. The werehog, despite how much it was memed on, is actually a pretty inoffensive hack and slash. Even the bosses, which are usually a sore spot for Sonic games, are pretty good.

UNFORTUNATELY, this is yet another Sonic game that can never quite escape the Asterisk of Doom.
The daytime stages are equal in number to the nighttime stages, but are NOWHERE near as long. For every 5 minutes you spend speeding your way through beautiful vistas, you spend 30 spamming attacks and doing slow puzzles and platforming.
That's not to mention just how much time is spent in the overworld, since you very frequently have to go back to the world map. And by frequently, I mean almost EVERY time you exit a stage.

As much as I wanted to love Unleashed as much as I do Generations, or even a flawed masterpiece like 3+K, it's unfortunately just another Rush: high highs that are always interrupted by awful lows.
