I've been watching my girlfriend play through this, and had the urge to blast through it again myself. It's such a great little Super Mario game, able to take risks and experiment due to its nature as a partial entry in the series, tied as it is to the underrated 3D World. Some things don't quite work: waiting for Bowser to get certain cat shines can be a pain, the technical polish isn't quite up to the series' usual standard, and having to awkwardly leave and come back to islands to load new challenges is actually less fluid than the old Super Mario 64 method for moving a level into a new state. Still, the overall experience is greatly enjoyable, and I look forward to seeing these flawed ideas improved and polished in the next big 3D Super Mario game.
