The art style looked so great. The Japanese breakfast soundtrack sounded so great. The insane bugs and absolutely frustratingly pointless dialogue completely destroyed my immersion and desire to play more than a few hours.

What do you mean by "pointless dialogue"? I thought the dialogue was excellent. It was rich, reflected the character's inner thoughts as they summed up their impressions of the people before them, and led to interesting conversations. Talking to people in this game was one of my highlights. I'm just struggling to understand what your definition of "pointless" is in this context. I agree on the bugs though.

@topmuffin Thanks for the comment. I should've been more specific about what I didn't like about the dialogue. While I probably didn't get far enough in the game to fully judge whether the dialogue gets better or not what felt "pointless" to me were all the times I walked up to someone to talk and instead of the dialogue boxes showing what I said they would just have descriptions of a conversation like: "I told this person a joked and they laughed. We had a good time."
Which felt frustrating to me because if you're telling a joke to someone why not write it out instead of just having a blurb about you talking to them? I don't feel like I'm part of the conversation when I'm just getting a recap of what the conversation was. I don't think all dialogue has to be literal spoken dialogue and stuff that shows a character's inner thoughts are great, but there were just way too many times I wanted to talk to someone in the game and instead of getting an actual conversation I got a description of a conversation which felt pointless to me.
