"A Cheap Dead Rising Knockoff"

This title is the Wii port of "Dead Rising" which implements motion controls and drastically reduces the game functions in order to fit onto the inferior power of the Wii console. The controls here are sort of hit-or-miss, and the other functions of the game are mostly intact but extremely diluted. There are less items to pick up around the mall, no limited time function, mandatory survivor missions, and no camera functionality. There are much less zombies that spawn in general, so the game is also much easier. The story is also the exact same, but chopped up and way less cohesive.

This game utilizes the "Resident Evil 4" engine, and thus plays more like an over-the-shoulder shooter rather than like the first "Dead Rising". It's "fine", but just lacks excitement and depth. The accomplishment of even porting this thing is impressive, though the final product is...less so.

Overall, its a technical achievement that this thing even exists, but its pretty much as fun as the original game for me. Less frustrating but more bland. In fact, it has made me want to revisit the first game to see if I would dislike as much as I did a couple of years back, so that's something! Overall, I just would Not Recommend outside of people who are wanting to see this technical achievement or those that would get a kick out of "Dead Rising: Wii Edition".

Final Verdict: 3/10 (Poor)
