Shadow of the Colossus is a testament to how simplicity can be worked to an incredible degree. Near no UI, no enemies outside of the bosses, no real characters except your trust horse, no side modes, just pure boss rush bliss. The empty muted world and total isolation gives this game such a dreary somber tone that is hard to find anywhere else.
