Going into any sort of extended depth into Danganronpa 2 would involve letting out a tremendous degree of spoilers, so I will tread lightly. Goodbye Despair blew me away as the game went on and it became a complete tonal shift from its predecessor. While I may not have been as much of a fan of the cast (except Nekomaru and Gundham were fantastic,) setting, or cases as I was in the first game, the second effort did a fantastic job seperating itself from being just another murder mystery solving release in the series. I found myself laughing out loud quite a lot, cursing at certain moments, and re-posturing because I was trying to grasp the (interestingly) spiraling plot. Spike Chunsoft certainly has a great ability to release unique, thought provoking thrillers that I wish everybody got to experience.

Even though this game isn't terribly long, it took me a decent amount of "log" days to beat, which I think is a strength. Because of the split between Daily Life / Deadly Life / Class Trials, I was able to get progress in late at night or before going out and save and have a good idea of where I was without halting progress at in-opportune times. I applaud the devs for creating a natural split of gameplay segments like that for each case.

I strongly recommend Danganronpa 2 to anybody who played the first game, has played Zero Escape, is a fan of Visual Novel's, or is looking for a narrative that they can become completely engrossed in.
