Honestly? It was way more alright than I expected. I never played the original Pac-Man World but felt like I should jump into this game when I saw it was getting a remaster a few months back and I'm glad I did. It's a basic 3D Platformer that strikes the right amount of "difficulty" in that it's not remotely hard but it does require a little thought into timing jumps and backtracking for keys and door unlocks as a result of some light puzzling. It's full of charm, and the loose story it tells of Pac-Man re-uniting his family after their abduction by a gigantic robotic version of himself is wordless but I found myself sort of invested in? Something about Pac-Man being around for as long as he has turns him into an endearing character. Have I gone all this time just to realize he's basically a yellow Kirby? He doesn't say a word, he just jumps and smiles, maybe we all learn a lesson from that...

The major downside of Pac-Man World Re-Pac is the music which is crusty beyond description. Upon entering the fourth world, I turned on some REM and caked it over the game's soundtrack because I could no longer take it anymore.

While it's a little difficult to reason with a $30 price tag on this game, which I spent a hair over four hours on with a 76% completion, I thought it was a good purchase and a great filler game between two longer titles I will be playing. The level design isn't great, but it's good enough. You aren't playing a Mario game, or even a Crash Bandicoot, but you are getting a decent 3D platformer with a storied franchise.
