A great game and truly an unique experience. I have to admit I played it on NSO using save states, because if I didn't I don't think I would have finished the game. the combat and itemmanagement is a bit outdated in my opinion, but the music, visuals and storytelling really make it worth to keep playing. I used save states the same way as in pokémon, just being able to save on the spot, in my opinion it makes the game better.

My thoughts:
(+ = (mostly) positive; - = (mostly) negative)
+ Gameplay;
Even tho the combat is pretty hard sometimes without indicators that you're facing a random hard enemy, I still had a good time. I appriciate how you have to manage your items carefully with the limited space + the limited amount of MP you have. It makes decision making of what to use extra important. Other than the game plays surprisingly smooth, like it's made for a joystick instead of directional buttons. Having the L button be the talk/use etc button also helps, instead of having to navigate to a menu to just talk with someone.

+++ Music;
Extremly good. most if not all soundtracks are iconic and/or add greatly to the atmosphere. The combat music is something you'll never get tired off. idk what else to say, it truely has one of, if not the most, iconic and unique soundtrack of any game I played.

++ Graphics;
Very nice visuals with the pixel perfect settings. I like how they also play with the visuals. For example in the desert you see randomly 1 black and 1 white pixel, thinking it might be a forgotten pixel or something. but it actually is something to interact with, which is a very fun surprise. the combat background visuals also really add to the music that is playing. Visually there is always a new surprise till the very end of the game, like the actual very end.

++ Story/Characters;
A weird but interesting story. I won't spoil anything, because it's just something you have to experience yourself. Usually I don't keep on reading everything in games, especially games with random NPC's scattered around. But this game made me want to talk with everyone, just to hear what they have to say. Surprisingly still a very funny game despite coming out in 1994.

Recommend?
Yes, but it really isn't a game for everyone. It's "free" on NSO, so you could always give it a try if you have that. You have to start the game without unrealistic expectations, just start the game and see where it brings you.
