I feel like I'm on the outside with Bioshock - I think they are good games but never understood the feverish fanbase behind them. As someone who loves immersive sims - I just wish Bioshock had a little bit more RPG in it. It's stuck in the middle for me - the shooting isn't satisfying enough for it to be a fun shooter and its not open enough to be a simulation. I love Rapture and I love it's simple, yet effective story, but the gameplay really falls flat for me.

I think its also worth noting that there are not multiple ways to solve problems in this game. The only solution is killing the enemies. And while levels are open-ended the way you progress through them is linear. I just wish the game had more options because I think Bioshock had the potential to be one of the best games ever created but it's ultimately just a "pretty good" game to me.
